14" F5 Newtonian for Ron in
Franklin, IN.:
This telescope
includes an Antares 2-speed 2" crayford focuser with 1.25"
adapter, a Destiny curved vane spider and secondary. The mirror
is a Hubble Optics 14" F5 sandwich mirror and sits on
a custom built 6-point all aluminum mirror cell optimized with
Plop. I've installed the encoder installation kit for Ron.
Notice the red-white and blue counterweight! Neat.
The
telescope was completed in June 2009.

This picture
of Ron with his telescope. I shipped the scope fine sanded and
assembled. Ron then finished the scope with a custom color and
varnish. |
 |
The 14" completely assembled and ready to use. Ron mounted
his Sky Commander to one of the struts and below the eyepiece. |
 |
This photo shows a nice
"rear" shot. |
 |
Another nice shot of the
telescope. In this photo you can see the Sky Commander and
zero-power red-dot finder mounted on the top ring. |
 |
Here's a
picture of the 14" scope during construction. I assemble the
mirror box, altitude bearings and custom fit the rocker box. |
 |
Another
photo of the construction stage with the 6-point aluminum mirror
cell installed. The mirror is affixed to the cell with 100%
silicone. |
 |
Another
photo of the telescope as construction nears completion. |
